Official Statement January 5, 2012

This Utah Peace Officers Association wishes to extend it’s support and condolences to the family of Ogden Police Department Agent, Jared Francom. When we lose one of our own, all who wear the badge feel the loss and pain. The magnitude of the tragic events of January 4, 2012 weigh heavy not only for the family of Agent Francom, but also for his brothers who received injuries. Our hearts and prayers go out to each officer and their families and wish for their speedy recovery. Law Enforcement is among the most nobel of professions. Agent Francom gave his life protecting his community and the lives of his comrades. What greater gift can a man give? Law Enforcement Officers Across the State of Utah will be wearing a black shroud across their badges to honor Agent Francom and his ultimate sacrifice.
