| President's Message
- September 1998:
It's hard to believe it has only been a month since convention. As I sit in this 100 degree heat trying to recap what we did at convention and wondering if I will be able to follow Eden's love and commitment for the organization. Kanab was a very beautiful setting for the convention. The range was breathtaking, a wonderful view in any direction. For those who didn't shoot and those who did, there was shopping, great tourist attractions, visiting the movie sets down the street from the hotel. We went and visited the Kane County Medical clinic and took them a toy box, books and toys. A play house and chairs were to be delivered there also. They were very thrilled with these items to keep the kids busy while visiting the clinic. A plaque was also given to the clinic from both the UPOA and the UPOA Auxiliary. One afternoon we had a demonstration on rubber stamping from the Stamping Up Company which was founded in Kanab. Some of the ladies made bird houses using the stamps, while others worked on tea towels. The kids had a great time making hemp and bead necklaces. Special thanks to Bonnie Nordfelt, who arranged for the rubber stamp demo and the entertainment for the business meeting. Also special thanks to Terri Bailey who put together the kids crafts and spent her afternoon working with the kids. During our business meeting we passed out the cookbooks, which Eden and everyone put together. They turned out wonderful.
