Headstones of Charlotte and George W. Proffitt (left) and Elijah Dawson. The age listed on Elijah's gravestone has been covered by concrete, which was used not too long ago to keep the stone upright. The pictures were taken April 3, 2006 at the Spurgeon Cemetery, Iowa. Many of those buried in the Cemetery are related, including the Proffitt, Dawson and Koonz families.

Spurgeon Cemetery, Iowa - George W. and Charlotte Proffitt are buried beneath the tree and ElijahDawson is buried just right of the tree. No grave has been recorded in the Cemetery for Elijah's wife, Margaret McCoy Dawson
