Genealogy

Picture on left: Preacher David Dawson (son of Preacher Elijah and Margaret McCoy Dawson) and his wife Elizabeth Heflin Dawson, married November 2, 1849. According to the Polk County, Iowa, 1880 census, David and Elizabeth were living there. David lived, without his wife, in Red Lodge Montana with his son George Washington Dawson , and died and was buried in Red Lodge in 1905. Elizabeth apparently lived with her first son, William Henry Dawson in Meeker, Oklahoma and passed away some time after 1905. I cannot find proof of that. Accordingly, she might have been buried in Shawnee, Oklahoma. David and Elizabeth's last child was born in 1875
Elijah and Margaret McCoy Dawson, parents of David Dawson were also living in Marion County, Iowa according to the 1880 census. Elijah is buried at the Spurgeon Cemetery, Pleasantville, Iowa
The daughter of David and Elizabeth, Olive Dawson Cleveland, lived in Sac City, Iowa, where this picture was taken.

John "Jake" Dawson, brother of George W. Dawson, with his mother, Elizabeth
Heflin Dawson, according to William Winton Dawson. It could be that it
is John's wife, because the lady looks about the age of John. A statement
on the back of the picture says, "To bad you were in the shadow, will try
again"

John Dawson, brother of George W. Dawson, was born Dec 31, 1859 in
IA and married Emily. He died July 20, 1939 in Clarkston, WA
