Midvale Special Officer William "Billie Nelson, died December 25, 1912, of a gunshot wound to the head while working the city's annual "Christmas guard." Nelson was attempting to subdue individuals shooting guns into the air when a suspect crept up behind him and fired the fatal shot. His killer was never identified.
