- Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Armond A. "Monty" Luke, 54, was
killed Dec. 3, 1959, when his patrol car plunged into the Sevier River.
The singlecar accident occurred on Highway 89, six miles south of Circleville.
Luke drowned after he struck his head while being thrown from the car.
Investigators speculate that the accident occurred when Luke swerved to
avoid deer crossing the road.
