- George D. Rees, 41, died at the wheel of his patrol car July 2, 1960, after it was struck head-on by two suspects driving a stolen car. The accident occurred near Lagoon at the junctions of highways 89 and 91. The two suspects who were being chased by officers at the time of the collision, also died.
