Elmer Murray Police Department Date of death: November 14, 1987 Cause: Traffic accident View this officer's Reflections Leave a Reflection Courtesy ODMP On Nov. 14, 1987, Murray PD Officer Jackson D. Elmer, 29, died after being struck by an intoxicated driver. Shortly before midnight, Elmer and another Murray City officer were investigating a traffic accident near 5530 S. State. Both officers were struck by a passing vehicle. The second officer received minor injuries while Elmer was killed instantly. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene but was later arrested.
